How to Create a WildCard Subdomain on Shared hosting

You may need to set up a wildcard subdomain, and this can be done within your cPanel account. A wildcard DNS record is a record that matches requests for non-existent domain names. A wildcard DNS record is specified by using the * symbol to create a record for the *.example.com.

Step-by-Step Guide

  • Login to Cpanel hosting your domain e.g www.company.com
  • Click the Subdomains link in the Domains section.
  • In the Subdomain field, type an asterisk * symbol, signifying that you are creating a wildcard subdomain
  • Choose the domain you want to create a wildcard subdomain for in the Domain section
  • The Document Root field will automatically generate a path for your wildcard subdomain. You can change the path as needed. You should change this path to your Rise CRM installation root folder
  • Click the Create button.

You need to contact your hosting company in most cases after this to set up Wildcard SSL if not already installed for you.

The above steps may vary from different hosting companies but the steps are more or less the same. Please also note if your hosting provider does not permit wildcards, Perfex to Saas will still work with a unique URL created for each client as below

Kindly contact your hosting for further assistance regarding this.
